Novel polyphenylene ether resin composition with improved plating property

Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific inorganic substance, a vinyl aromatic polymer and a low- unsatruation elastomer are combined to produce a polypyenylene ether resin composition giving moldings with stable and high adhesion to plated metals. CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprises (A) 30W95pts.wt. of poly(2, 6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether as a polyphenylene ether resin, (B) 70W5pts. of a copolymer from styrene and maleic anhydride as a vinyl aromatic polymer, (C) 1W50pts. a hydrogenated A-B-A' type block copolymer as an elastomer with low unsaturation and (D) 1W30, preferably 3W15pts, based on 100pts. of the resin components cited above, of at least one selected from MgCO 3 , CaCO 3 and MgO. EFFECT: Regardless of etching time, it gives a stable and high plating adhesion and consumes less 6-valent chromium. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
